How to calculate the fee for Live Streaming

Introduction

Live Streaming and Interactive Live Streaming are committed to providing high-quality live streaming experiences in different scenarios, allowing users to select the product as required. ZEGOCLOUD provides the same billing method for the two services and uses the same method as Voice & Video Call to calculate the use duration based on the user count, facilitating service cost estimation.

Billing overview

Billing of the Live Streaming and Interactive Live Streaming services can be roughly divided into that for hosts and for participants. For details about the billing for hosts, refer to the billing of Voice & Video Call. For details about the billing for participants, you can also refer to the user count-based billing method of Voice & Video Call. Users can play streams using Live Streaming and Interactive Live Streaming and forward video streams from the host side to a third-party platform. In this scenario, you need to pay for:

  1. Live streaming creation. Live streaming creation is charged based on the duration of this live streaming activity and the number of live streaming content items but is irrelevant to the number of participants.

  2. Participant viewing. The participant viewing duration is calculated as follows: Total duration = Number of participants x Participant viewing duration. Unit prices for Live Streaming and Interactive Live Streaming are different.

For example, four hosts broadcast for 30 minutes in a voice chat, and the video for the voice chat is converted into a live streaming video and distributed to 5,000 participants in Live Streaming mode. The fee is calculated as follows:

  1. Host duration: 4 x 30 = 120 (minutes)
  2. Duration of the live streaming: 1 x 30 = 30 (minutes)
  3. Participant duration: 5,000 x 30 = 150,000 (minutes)

The final fee is the sum of the fees for the preceding durations.
